📚The book I enjoyed reading📚

 

I have read many books.📚 beacause I normally use to read books during my leisure time.I most like read novel.Among them my favorite book is "THE VILLAGE IN THE JUNGLE" by leornad woolf.And this book sinhla translate is "Beddegama".This book translated by A.P Gunarathne.

   The ssetting  of the story was a remote village named Beddegama situated in the jungle of Hambantota District.In this tiny jungle village there were 10 families living in scattered jungle nuts.They were living on the meager harvest of their plots.The only person who could live with out starving was "Bebehamy",the village head man whose hut had titled roof.

All the villager were suffering from drought starvation,hunger,poverty,illness and supersition,silindu is a cultivatotor and hunter half- veddah and half sinhla Peasont has two doughters and he is the cheif character in the story.Babun Appu,Head man's brother was in love with punchi manike,Silindu's daughter and married her.After marriage ther settled down near Silindu's hena.An outsider named Fernando come to the village and became friendly with the headman.They joined hands to expolite the villagers and grab the incomes the they obtained from their unproductive chenas the head man and fernando.

           Falsely implicated a case of burglary against Babun.He was imprisoned and later died in the prison.Silindu through superstition possesed by devil and also in anger for false accusations shot both the headman and fernando and he was imprisoned for life..

With the death of the head man and also with the departure of his wife from kamburipitya.the village life to came to end.The last survivaour in the village was punchi manike.she was starving and experiencing a lot of hardships.Finally she also was killed by a wild boar and Baddegama disappeared to the jungle and was frogotten.
